Biography

Luis Monteagudo García (A Coruña, 20-11-1919 - Santiago de Compostela, 14-02-2018) earned a degree in Humanities of the Universidad de Santiago (1941) and his doctorate degree from the Universidad de Madrid with a doctoral dissertation entitled Prehistoria del NW de España. Galicia en Ptolomeo (1949) [Prehistory of NW Spain. Galicia in Ptolomeo]. He directed the first excavations at the Hillfort of Elviña and the mamoas or tumuli of Zapateira. He was the director of the Archaeological and History Museum of A Coruña and of the Museum of Pilgrimage of Santiago.
